Japan's new Emperor Naruhito has formally ascended the Chrysanthemum Throne. He met with representatives from the government, including Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, cabinet ministers and the heads of local governments, on Wednesday. He also delivered his public remarks, and pledged to carry out duties in accordance with the constitution.
