A 17-year-old teenager with one leg refused to take 60 percent of the total score for disabled exemption on the high school entrance exams. He insisted on relying on crutches and one leg to "jump" 1,000 meters, which moved everyone. Although he was the last in the running test, the teacher asked for an exception and gave him full marks. On three other sports activities, he got full marks by himself. In 2017, the Chinese government passed new regulations encouraging the mainstream education of students with disabilities.
