Xi hails mutual respect and multilateral trade for China and EU

Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that China and the EU are establishing world peace, contributing to global development, and maintaining the international order.
He made the comments while meeting with European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in Beijing on Monday.
Based on mutual respect, justice and fairness, and win-win cooperation, China is willing to push for more collaboration with the EU to step up the already functioning comprehensive strategic partnership, and both parties will increase social development as well as greatly improve people's livelihoods, Xi said.
Xi emphasized that China has always viewed the EU as having an important role in balancing and developing the international system.
Both China and the EU need to keep their mutual partnership on the right track, and continue pushing for cooperation in peace, growth, reform and cultural exchanges.

Dialogues in all fields between China and the EU are to be promoted, political talks are to be enhanced, both parties are going to push for understanding of both regional and international hot issues by promoting multilateralism and especially maintaining and supporting the UN's role, Xi also said.
The Chinese president stated that China and the EU are to explore the potential for trade and investment, to boost investment and strengthen cooperation in innovation under the Belt and Road framework, including more effective three-party cooperation. Cultural dialogues between China and Europe are to be brought to a whole new level by increasing communication in humanities and related fields.
China and the EU should understand each other more, cooperate more, and respect each other's core interests.
As two great markets and civilizations, China and the EU need to work together without any doubt, treat each other with equality and fairness, cooperate with each other for win-win outcomes, and bring more positive energy to the global community, as pointed out by President Xi.
Xi also said that this year marks China's 40th anniversary of economic reform and opening up, and China is deepening its reform and opening up at this particular moment by announcing a series of great policies that will continue to reform and open the economy, which will show to the people of China and to the outside world the achievements and better quality of China's reform efforts.
Xi said that China and the EU are great economies and great beneficiaries of multilateral trade. Both parties are to follow the trends toward a multipolar world and economic globalization by enhancing strategic communication and cooperation, working together on an open economy type of world, promoting freer and more accessible trade and investment, better global governance, and pushing for peace and development for humanity.

Tusk and Junker both acknowledged that the EU-China comprehensive strategic partnership is of vital importance.
The EU appreciates China's support for European integration, and wants to deepen cooperation in all other fields, and foster closer communication on international affairs.
EU and China both hail multilateralism, call for an international order based on rules, deal with international affairs based on mutual respects, and want to strengthen multilateral trade system through negotiations, said Tusk and Juncker.
