World No. 8 Kevin Anderson, who is also the top player in South Africa, spoke to CGTN about his aspirations in the 2018 season. Anderson's enjoying the best season of his career, winning his fourth ATP title and reaching the finals at Wimbledon, where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
"It was certainly my goal and my objective. Obviously, you have to have a lot of belief, and that process took some time for me but I always had, I think, pretty high expectations and high aspirations for myself," Anderson said.
"You never know when it's going to happen. For me it happened in the last 15 months where I've made two Grand Slam finals. Of course I want to put myself back and hope to go one step further."
Moving forward, Anderson said he has the skills to hoist one of the game's coveted trophies. He just needs to maintain his trust and mentality against the top competition.
"I feel like I'm right there," Anderson said. "I've proved that especially over the last while, and the people who I've played and who I've beaten know that my game is good enough."
