In this year's Archery World Cup currently underway in Antalya, Turkey, China won the men's team recurve gold medal, thanks to the team of Wei Shaoxun, Feng Hao and Ding Yiliang as the Chinese archers outmaneuvered Italy 5-1.
Earlier, Ding's final arrow in the opener tied the score as both sides won one point. However, the world number 67's final shot helped the PRC win the second round for two more points.
And Ding's last attempt in the third meant China overcame their Italian rivals to win the coveted gold medal.
Meanwhile, China's Zheng Yichai edged past Russian Sayana Tsyrempilova 6-4 to win recurve women's gold.
The 21-year-old from China said after her win, “I'm very, very excited. I believed in myself. So when it got to the last set it was easy.”
This was Zheng's second Archery World Cup stage of the season after Shanghai. Unlike most nations, China often sends different squads to each event. Antalya is only Zheng's fourth international event as she's been on the Chinese team since this time last year. She was part of the silver-medal-winning recurve women's team at stage two.
