There is something special about bringing nature inside our homes in the winter when many colors fade away during the frigid weather. Here are some plants worth taking in to brighten the room.

1. Cyclamen
Provided temperate light and fresh air, cyclamen flower buds can be continuously seen throughout the entire winter. Lack of cold air is often the key factor that causes the death of the plant since heat is what keeps the house warm.  Temperatures typically around 4-6℃ will facilitate the blossom. Hence, placing the plants in an unheated room or near a window might be a compromising way to both pleasing the vibe and keep them alive.

2. Rosemary
Rosemary originated from the Mediterranean where various plant species prosper in an ideal growing condition with sandy soil, plenty of sun exposure and humidity. But what makes rosemary a bit different is its roots prefer to reach deep in the dry area while its leaves “drink” water from the air. Knowing this feature is essential to keep the plant from perishing, as the air is always dry in the house because of the heater and compensatory watering may result suffocating of the roots and eventually lead to tragedy.

3. Holiday Cactus
The best thing about having holiday cacti in the house is its low maintenance, although a bit extra attention is still needed to encourage blooming. Avoid direct sunlight in summer when you put the plants outside. Keep them outdoors until the first frost, the shortening days and cold nights will help open flower buds. Holiday cactus still needs sunlight inside the house, so don't forget to place it close a window. Room temperature is okay, although fresh air is best.  Water the plants until the soil becomes dry to touch after the blossom, as overdoing will likely cause the roots to rot.
