China has lodged stern representations on the case involving Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE during negotiations with the US trade delegation, a Ministry of Commerce spokesperson said on Friday.

The US side stated that it attaches importance to China’s representations, and will report China’s stance to the US president, the spokesperson said.

Last month the US Department of Commerce suspended an export control settlement deal with ZTE Corporation after claims that the company violated the terms of an earlier agreement and "misled" the US government.
