World Bank President Jim Yong Kim addressed the opening ceremony of the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai on Monday.
Jim Yong Kim was impressed by China's poverty alleviation efforts.
He gave out an example that in just five years, the poverty rate of Guizhou,  one of China's poorest provinces, dropped from 30% in 2013 to 8% in 2018, thanks to the rapid development of e-commerce.
He hoped to see more of this kind of work in the future and looks forward to a more friendly global market that "works for everyone."
