In California, it was a very happy birthday for American Wheelchair Motorcross enthusiast Aaron Fotheringham, who marked turning 27 by setting three new world records. The physically challenged athlete, who was born with spina bifida, managed to make best-ever attempts in the quarter-pipe drop in, ramp jump and handplant on his two wheels on Thursday, which coincided with "Guinness World Record Day".
The young man from Las Vegas performed his feats with a representative from Guinness to check his progress. The first record came in the drop-in, measuring a height of eight meters and 40 centimeters. Next, he smashed two records in one go by first doing a ramp jump before successfully pulling off a handplant at the height of eight meters.

He launched himself 21 meters and 35 centimeters for the second record before he completed the final of his three-successful world-record attempts on the coping of the eight meters and 40 centimeters' ramp.
Later, the Guinness representative officially awarded Fotheringham the honors to make it a special 27th birthday for him.
Fotheringham said: "It was a bit overwhelming, for the last week, thinking, 'oh, I've got three records coming up and, I hope I succeed."
"But I really couldn't have asked for a better day. Everything just went smoothly and I'm just super-pumped we made it happen and Guinness World Records were able to come out and, make it official."
