Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a reply letter to students from the China-Laos Nongping Primary School, encouraging them to study hard and help promote friendship between the Chinese and Lao people.
The students wrote to Xi before coming to China to participate in a sub-forum at the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) which was held in Beijing on April 25-27.
The students wrote the letter to express their sincere gratitude for China's assistance in the construction of Nongping Primary School, saying that they are willing to participate in the construction of the Belt and Road.
They also sent beautiful albums as gifts to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos.
"Thank you for your letter and the fine picture albums. I can feel your happiness and your yearning for a better life. I am deeply moved," Xi said in the letter.
The president said that making people along the Belt and Road progress and live a better life is his original intention when proposing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Strengthening China-Laos cooperation to improve people's livelihood and promoting China-Laos cooperation under the framework of the BRI are important parts of building a China-Laos community with a shared future, he noted.
"I wish that more and more organizations, like China Foundation for Peace and Development, will join the work to benefit people along the Belt and Road routes," he added.
The president also welcomed the students to visit China through the China-Laos Railway.
The China-Laos Nongping Primary School was built by China in 2012. China has been sending volunteer teachers and providing teaching materials as well.
The school is a pilot project of the China-Laos friendship.
