CUBA: The winners of all four divisions have been crowned

With Taiyuan University of Technology and Qinghai Normal University defending their men's and women's champions respectively on Monday night, the winners of the four divisions in the 21st Chinese University Basketball Association (CUBA) were crowned.

Peking University, Central South University, Universitas Amoiensis (Xiamen University) and Taiyuan University of Technology are the traditional men's powerhouses respectively defending the titles of Northeast, Southwest, Southeast and Northwest divisions.

Except for the newly rising Xiamen, all the other winners are continuing their championship streaks: Peking won the fourth title in a row, Central South won their sixth, and Taiyuan just bagged the 17th division title.

On women's side, Central South University grabbed the championship from last season's winner Huazhong University of Science and Technology, who got to the final with their men's team.

Tsinghua University beat their bitter rival Peking University to win the Northeast division championship. The crowns of the Northwest and Southeast divisions went to defending champions Qinghai Normal University and China University of Mining and Technology.

According to official statistics, the only triple double in the divisional competition occurred in the Northeast Division, nailed by Zhu Yuhu from the China University of Petroleum. 148 players in the four divisions contributed 259 double double.

Peking University shot 27 three-pointers against Hebei University of Engineering -- the highest number of three pointers in the four divisions.

According to the schedule, when all four divisions CUBA have finished their seasons, the top 24 teams comprised of top six of each division will enter the national competition.

The 7th-10th from each division will play the playoffs at Northeastern University from May 4 to 8, fighting for the last eight places that will eventually lead to the national competition.

The national top 32 will be decided in mid-May, and will be reorganized and assembled again to scramble the top 8.

The next round will advance under the home-away system, and the final top four will determine the national championship throughout the tournament.
