Typhoon Rumbia, the 18th this year, has been moving northwest inland since it made landfall in east China's Shanghai on Friday.
The storm brought torrential rain that triggered flash floods in mountainous areas.
In east China's Anhui Province, it took 14 hours for rescuers to save an old man stranded on a shoal.
Accompanied by strong winds, the storm caused power outages in more than 50,000 households throughout the province.
Power supply companies rushed to repair the lines.
Chu Kunbao, local power supply company, said, “We started in the morning, heading to different locations in need of repair. The entire area is expected to have power restored within the day.”

In urban areas, the tropical storm is causing inconveniences for both air and road transportation.
Strong gales and rain downed hundreds of trees and stranded vehicles.
Amid the wet weather, more than 200 flights were canceled in Shanghai's international airports.
The flight cancellations and delays are expected to continue for two to three days.
Also impacted are crops and farmland. Yan Rujing, a strawberry farmer in Changfeng County of Anhui, said, “If the strawberries are going to drown, I will have no income in the fall. I will lose about 200,000 yuan of income.”
Summer is China's typhoon season. But this year, the number of storms has been greater than usual.
Typhoon Rumbia is expected to gradually wane, but people are waiting to see if there's yet another storm on the horizon.
