As one of the earliest construction firms in China to undertake international projects, Beijing Construction Engineering Group will serve as the contractor for an industrial park being built in the country. The Trinidad and Tobago New Industrial Park Project is located at the Port of Lissas Point in western and central Trinidad. The project occupies a total area of approximately 538,000 square meters, and the total plant area is 25,000 square meters.

The park will be home to high-tech industries such as information technology, biotechnology and new material technologies. The premises will also work with some traditional industries such as electrical appliances, building materials and machinery manufacturing to fully optimize the domestic industrial structure. The park is expected to bring jobs to tens of thousands of people and contribute 5 percent to the GDP.

“We have got very close relationship with China. And we have maintained very close contact over the years,” said Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
