On cold winter days, there is nothing better than immersing yourself in hot springs, and resorts specializing in them are gaining popularity across China, offering both relaxation and healing for your body and mind.

Huaqing Hot Springs in Shaanxi Province

Known as the first hot spring in China, Huaqing Hot Springs or the Huaqing Pool, is located in Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. It is a 5A scenic area with a history of two or three million years and maintains a steady temperature of 43℃ (109℉).

It was favored by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and his favorite concubine Yang Yuhuan, often known as Yang Guifei. The spring, once a witness to their romance, has become a widely-known tourist attraction. 

Hailuogou Hot Springs in Sichuan Province

The Hailuogou Hot Spring Resort is hidden in the deep forests of the No.2 Camp of Hailuogou Glacier National Park, southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Contrasting with the chill of the mountains, the spring is very hot and welcoming, with the temperature of the water outlets reaching 92℃ (197℉) .

It is suitable for both soaking and drinking, with some even making hot tea and boiling eggs, and when the snowflakes fall in winter, it turns into a fairyland.

Wuyi Hot Springs in Zhejiang Province

Wuyi County in southeast China's Zhejiang Province is noted for its hot springs. The Wuyi Hot Spring Resort features boutique-styled rooms and suites that offer comfort and a luxurious experience. 

It is also kid-friendly that has areas for little ones to have fun, and at the same time, adults can relax at the resort's spa.  

Donghai Hot Springs in Jiangsu Province

The hot springs in Donghai, Jiangsu Province have a long history. They were once described by scholars as having "perennial hot water" during the Ming Dynasty, and acclaimed as "district wonders" during the Qing Dynasty. 

The water of Donghai hot springs is of a very high quality as it is rich in minerals that are very beneficial to health. 

Dezhong Hot Spring in Tibet Autonomous Region

About 120 kilometers from Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, is the Dezhong Hot Spring, which is situated at the bottom of a valley that is still 4,500 meters above sea level with mountains rising in the distance. 

Overlooking Dezhong hot spring are rows of Tibetan houses, which make up the village of Dezhong. Its hot spring is said to be particularly effective for healing arthritis.
