Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday hailed Sudan's efforts to safeguard its national sovereignty, safety and stability, during a meeting with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi praised the Sudanese president's role in helping broker a peace deal between warring parties in South Sudan and said China is willing to contribute to the peace and stability in South Sudan.
Describing China-Sudan cooperation as a role model for South-South cooperation, Xi said China welcomes Sudan to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to take the opportunity to push forward bilateral cooperation in energy and agriculture.
Al-Bashir said Sudan and China have unbreakable political trust and traditional friendship.
"Sudan speaks highly of and supports the Belt and Road Initiative and supports China's proposal to build a closer China-Africa community with a shared future," the Sudanese president said.
He also thanked China for its support for Africa's peace and development and wished the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) a success.
After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents.
