Vietnam will ensure top security for the upcoming second summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un, pledged Vietnamese officials during a press conference Monday.
The event also marks the first visit by a DPRK top leader in 55 years to Vietnam.
The news briefing was addressed by Nguyen Duc Chung, the chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee and Le Hoai Trung, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister.
"Security will be at the maximum level," Le told reporters, adding that Vietnam expects a positive outcome from the summit.
Le also confirmed that Kim, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, will pay an official friendly visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong, also general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.
