The high-profile suspense film “Behind the Scenes” opened on Saturday in China’s IMAX theaters.
Directed by Ren Pengyuan, the movie stars A-List Chinese actors such as Xu Zheng and Wang Likun. The inversion of plots, winding emotions, and the powerful performances of the actors have made it popular.
The film tells the story of a very rich man who is kidnapped and caught up in a trap that puts him on the verge of ruin. His wife becomes a victim in the ordeal and to save her and himself the lead actor becomes involved in a game of death and redemption.

The leading actor Xu Zheng said: “All the films are allegorical, and the question of how people should choose is the ultimate question of life.” And this thought-provoking story also makes audiences think: "what would I do if I were the man in the film?”
“The anxiety of winning makes one forget life itself and forget the most important things in life. Only when we truly realize this, will all the efforts we make become valuable and meaningful,” commented an audience member on Douban (an IMDB-like Chinese website).
