China is willing to work with Algeria to implement the outcome of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and continue to deepen cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday.
President Xi made his remarks when meeting with Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia after the 2018 FOCAC Beijing Summit.
Xi asked Ouyahia to convey his cordial greetings and good wishes to Algeria's President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and thanked Algeria for its contribution to the success of the Beijing summit.
He stressed that the traditional China-Algeria friendship is profound and the comprehensive strategic partnership has developed swiftly, achieving fruitful results for both sides.
Enhancing strategic mutual trust and coordination is in line with the common interests of both countries, Xi added.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Algeria and the 55th anniversary of China dispatching its first medical teams to Algeria and Africa. The Chinese president also said China will continue to deepen cooperation including infrastructure construction and healthcare with Algeria.
Ouyahia hoped to take the opportunity of signing the cooperation agreement under the Belt and Road Initiative to deepen pragmatic cooperation between the two sides.
As he pointed out, Algeria-China relations have a long history and Algeria received valuable support from China in its efforts to achieve independence and national development, and the two sides have always cooperated closely in international affairs.
Algeria appreciates and supports the new China-Africa cooperation initiatives put forward at the 2018 FOCAC Beijing Summit, Ouyahia added.
