A craftsman in south China’s Guangdong Province shows us how to produce a glass lampshade by using glassblowing techniques under high temperatures. /VCG Photo
To start with, a lump of molten glass is placed at the end of a blown pipe and the craftsman modifies the shape of the glass by blowing air into the pipe. In the meantime, the craftsman needs to keep rolling the molten glass in an attempt to form it into a round shape. /VCG Photo
After finishing the core layer of the lampshade, the craftsman dips the transparent blown glass into a white coating and continues to blow air through the pipe to widen the shape of the second layer of the lampshade. /VCG Photo
The last step is to create the outer layer of the lampshade. The craftsman dips the blown glass into another kind of white coating and places it into a mold while continuing to blow air through the pipe to create an even bigger round bubble. /VCG Photo
After the glass cools in the mold, the lampshade is completed. /VCG Photo
