Monday marks the Duanwu Festival, more widely known as the Dragon Boat Festival. Celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month in lunar Chinese calendar, it is marked by a set of traditional events, including eating zongzi, holding dragon boat races and commemorating the death of Qu Yuan (340-278 BC), a famous Chinese poet who is known for his verses and patriotism.
