China clinched gold in the lightweight women's quadruple sculls on the sixth day of World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria on Friday.

This has been China's only winning performance at the event so far.

The Chinese team that include Pan Dandan, Liu Guoru, Chen Fang, and Wu Qiang, began well with Germany hot on their heels in second.

They were able to keep their lead over the Germans, and third placed Italy after the first 500 meters.

China's team continued to push as they increased their advantage to over a boat's length in the middle section.

In the final sprint, China eventually crossed the finish line in 6 minutes 28.32 seconds.

Denmark clinched silver, less than a second ahead of bronze-winning Germany.
