People were preparing to celebrate Losar eve, also known as Tibetan New Year. Losar, one of the major festivals celebrated in Tibetan Buddhism, follows a lunisolar calendar, so the date varies year to year. Tibetans flocked to the traditional New Year market to shop, before returning home to reunite and celebrate with family. Over 500 vendors displayed a variety of goods at the market. After shopping, families begin to prepare dinner for New Year's Eve.
