Universal's "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" crossed one billion US dollars mark Thursday in ticket sales at the global box office, showing off the charisma of dinosaurs.
The science fiction adventure film has brought in 304.8 million dollars in North American theaters and 700.7 million dollars from overseas markets, pushing its global income to 1,005.5 million dollars.
It has stayed atop North American box office for two weekends in a row and remained the No.1 movie at the international box office for the fourth straight week.

Although the film surpassed expectations and landed as the 35th film to take in over one billion dollars worldwide, it's still well behind its predecessor, "Jurassic World," which took in a huge 1.67 billion dollars at the global box office in 2015.
"'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' takes a T-Rex sized bite out of the box office," wrote movie analyst Paul Dergarabedian at comScore in an email to Xinhua.
"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is the fifth installment of the "Jurassic Park" film series, as well as the second installment of a planned "Jurassic World" trilogy.

Directed by J. A. Bayona, the film stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Set three years after "Jurassic World" theme park was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment, the plot follows Owen Grady and Claire Dearing's effort to mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs when the dormant volcano begins roaring to life on the island of Isla Nublar.
"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is only the third film so far this year to hit 1 billion dollars mark at the global box office following Disney's "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Black Panther."
