Alibaba works with high-tech giants over smart freeway

In order to enjoy a safe autonomous driving experience, there are still a lot of challenges, namely those in infrastructure. Alibaba held its 2018 computing conference and displayed how they are working with other high tech companies to boost the development of smart mobility.

It is regarded as a more efficient and convenient way to travel without the need for driver. A visitor Zhang Luojin said: "Future cars are unmanned vehicles with more understanding of people's needs in a safer, more personalized way."

China has become the world's largest car market, and a lot of auto manufacturers are strengthening their research and development to make their cars smarter.

However, today's smart cars are not yet at the advanced level they need to be in order to drive autonomously safely with road improvement needed.

Wang Mao, the general manager of the newly operating system Alios of Alibaba group claimed: "We will work with other departments and companies to provide smarter roads and expressway solutions with our AI and Internet of Things technology, so that the smart cars can run in a fully smart environment."

Wang Dongzhu, the deputy chief engineer in Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport talked about the importance of collaboration from officials, entrepreneurs and scientists in order to develop autonomous driving further more.

He said: "Now many Internet companies are undertaking autonomous driving tests. And we hope this vehicle road collaboration will further boost the development of autonomous driving by solving some practical difficulties."

Alibaba is in conjunction with national transportation departments and other high tech companies like Intel, China Unicom and State Grid. They hope to speed up the building of China's autonomous driving over the next 20 years.
