A delegation of more than two dozen tourism companies from Canada as well as officials, led by the Canadian Minister of Small Business and Tourism, concluded on Thursday a week-long trip to China in Shanghai.
The trip is in part to celebrate 2018 as the Canada-China Year of Tourism, launched by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in 2016. Both leaders committed to doubling the numbers of two-way visitors and the volume of bilateral trade by 2025.

The delegation started their trip in Beijing, visiting east China's Hangzhou City, home to e-commerce giant Alibaba, before heading to Shanghai.
Along the way a number of business development activities were held for Canadian businesses to promote their tourism offerings, meet key stakeholders in the Chinese tourism industry, and gain a better understanding of the Chinese market.
Canadian Minister of Small Business and Tourism Bardish Chagger, said the trade mission had been successful not only in signing numerous memorandums of understanding, but also in broadening the horizons of the delegation, some of whom had never been to China before.
