China enjoyed more medal success at the 2019 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Melbourne on Sunday as Zhao Shiting and You Hao won the women's balance beam and men's parallel bars competitions respectively.

Earlier, 15-year-old Zhao stormed into the finals by securing the first place in the preliminary round. Although she made a minor mistake on a leg swap, the quality of the complete action was good enough for her to stake claim for the top spot. Zhao eventually edged out home favorite Emma Nedov to complete an emphatic victory in the balance beam with 13.566 points.

Keeping the momentum going, Zhao also secured bronze in the women's floor competition, which was won by 2013 world champion silver medalist Vanessa Ferrari of Italy.

Meanwhile, after winning the second place in the ring race, Zhao's compatriot You overcame his shoulder injury to claim the title on the men's parallel bars with 15.066 points.

The results added to his world championship gold medal from Glasgow in 2015.

On the eventful day, the competition for the men's horizontal bars was quite fierce. China's Zhang Chenglong performed well but his landing wasn't that smooth. As a result, he finished in third place with 14.333 points.

Japan's Hidetaka Miyachi won the horizontal bar event. Even though Miyachi scored the same as the Netherlands' Epkle Zonderland with 14.733 points, he was awarded gold after being adjudged to have performed a better execution.
