Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Eco Forum Global (EFG) Annual Conference Guiyang 2018, which opened in Guiyang, southwest China's Guizhou Province on Saturday.
Xi emphasized that China pays close attention to the protection of the ecological environment, and will continue its efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development along with the international society, to build a clean, beautiful world together.
"Ecological conservation concerns the future of humankind, and it's the common goal of all nations to build a green home," said Xi in the letter.

China has attached great importance to ecological civilization.
“Building an ecological civilization is vital to sustain the Chinese nation’s development,” said President Xi in the report to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) last October, and in his speech at the United Nations Office in Geneva last January. China “should pursue green, low-carbon, circular and sustainable way of life and production, advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in a balanced manner.”
This year marks the 10th anniversary of EFG, the only international forum themed on ecological civilization and approved by the central government in China. This year, the event provided a platform for over 2,400 guests from 35 countries and regions to communicate, share best practices and cooperate to promote eco-civilization.

With the theme of “Embracing a New Era of Eco-civilization: Green Development with High Priority to Ecology,” this year’s forum will “enhance consensus, deepen cooperation and promote the construction of global ecological civilization,” said Sun Zhigang, secretary of Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee.
A series of summits, symposiums, theme forums can be expected, with topics focusing on the major strategic arrangements for China's ecological civilization development, such as global low-carbon transformation, eco-civilization and anti-poverty projects, and green development, among others.
