Airbus's Beluga XL cargo plane took off on its maiden flight. Inspired by its namesake marine mammal, the plane features a round nose and a pointed beak. The Beluga XL boasts 30 percent more capacity than its predecessor, and can carry 53 tons of cargo over a distance of 4,074 km without making any stops. Airbus said the plane is set to be in service by 2019.
