Going to school and sitting in a classroom with dozens of other children?

Not for some children in Singapore!

For them, going to school means staying at home with their parents, who're also teachers and impart them the necessary knowledge and values.

One such homeschooling parent is Sue Ong. She gives her children the freedom to explore their passions, and allows them to manage their own time.

"When they've completed their academic goals for the day, the rest of the day they're free to pursue their other interests," said Sue Ong.

In Singapore, the homeschooling community is small but active. Parents share tips on their children's learning, and take turns to organize events.

Singapore has one of the best education systems in the world, but a handful of parents prefer to homeschool their children. About 50 out of 40,000 children are homeschooled each year. Most of those who choose to do so are staunch Christians who want to impart stronger religious values into their children.
