Lawmakers also voted in favor of the government work report and several other reports.

The top legislature hailed the achievements made under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core.

Li noted socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered into a new era which has raised new and higher requirements for the NPC's work.

Deputies should take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guide in improving and developing the system of people's congresses and the legislatures' work, Li said.

He also told NPC deputies to fulfill their responsibilities empowered by the Constitution and law, clearly see their missions and work hard to lay a solid foundation of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) with credit.
