China's foreign investment law passed by lawmakers at the closing meeting of the second session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) will advance China's opening-up to a higher level, Li Zhanshu, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, said on Friday.
The second session of the 13th NPC, China's top legislature, concluded on Friday morning in Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping and other leaders also attended the closing meeting.

Calling foreign investment law a "fundamental law," Li stressed in-depth learning and full implementation of the law to promote higher quality development.

Lawmakers also voted in favor of the government work report and several other reports.
The top legislature hailed the achievements made under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core.
Li noted socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered into a new era which has raised new and higher requirements for the NPC's work.
Deputies should take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guide in improving and developing the system of people's congresses and the legislatures' work, Li said.
He also told NPC deputies to fulfill their responsibilities empowered by the Constitution and law, clearly see their missions and work hard to lay a solid foundation of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) with credit.
