Tsingtao Beer, a 113-year-old brand, is one of China's top breweries. The company applied to hold an international beer festival in 1991 and it has been held annually ever since. During the festival, residents of the city sample varieties of beer from around the world. People also take part in shows, including drinking competitions in which men and women drink beers as fast as they can. This year’s Qingdao International Beer Festival runs until August 26.
