New Year 2019 was welcomed across the world with spectacular celebrations.
In Beijing, a countdown party was held in front of the Water Cube, the National Aquatics Center. People from all over the world gathered in one place to witness singing and dancing performances.
With seconds left to midnight, the crowds started the countdown by shouting out the numbers, "5, 4, 3, 2, 1" in unison.
Firework shows were the most popular way for several major cities to celebrate the New Year. Hundreds of thousands of revelers packed shoulder to shoulder rejoiced with wild excitement.
The dazzling fireworks lit up the night sky like kaleidoscopes. It was indeed a sleepless night.
