China hails the close ties with Russia. The bilateral relationship has seen a continuous, steady and sound development at a high level, and is at its best in history in terms of mutual trust, coordination and strategic values, said Chinese President Xi Jinping during his meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow on Thursday.
China and Russia have agreed to upgrade their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era. According to President Xi, the decision will enhance all-around cooperation and deepen the convergence of the two countries' interests.

Noting that the world is becoming increasingly uncertain and unstable, Xi said China and Russia should enhance their strategic coordination and work jointly to safeguard their national interests and tackle improper practices that contain the development of the emerging markets.
Xi urged the two countries to further promote their cooperation in all fields so as to inject strong impetus into the development of both sides and benefit the two peoples.
As China and Russia are both permanent members of the UN Security Council, Xi also called for closer cooperation in multilateral affairs and more contributions to the international community by the two countries.
Medvedev echoed Xi's thoughts, saying that the statements signed by President Xi and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on elevating bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era are of great significance.
Regarding the improper practices of an individual country, he said that the move violates the international law, condemning sanctions on other countries and their enterprises that have curbed global economic growth and harmed the international trade development.
The prime minister also vowed to fully implement the important consensuses reached by two presidents and to dock the Belt and Road Initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union.
