A new traffic monitoring system will be put into service once the bridge reopens, and the lighting and drainage systems have also been upgraded. A total of 299 lampposts in the shape of Yulan magnolia flowers have been installed on both sides of the road. The flower is native to eastern China. /VCG Photo

According to Nanjing Traffic Police, the bridge will first welcome pedestrians between December 26 and 28, before officially opening on December 29, the date it was first put in use in 1968. /VCG Photo
