Papua New Guinea is the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings this year. As the biggest and most populous island country in the south Pacific, Papua New Guinea is also one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world, home to over 800 tribes and 600 small islands.
It is also one of the most promising economies in the Pacific region. Chinese President Xi will pay a state visit to Papua New Guinea on November 15, the first to the country by a Chinese president since the two sides established diplomatic relations in 1976.
