A new heavy-duty driverless truck was tested in Shanghai last Thursday. The truck has a handling capacity of 40 tonnes, and is equipped with a laser radar, a millimeter-wave radar, cameras and a satellite positioning system. The driverless truck is able to run at a maximum speed of 80 km/hr. It can detect a moving object 300 meters away when driving at a test speed of 30 km/hr. Its brake reaction time is 25 milliseconds, much faster than that of human drivers.
