Generating 9,600 tons of plastic waste every day, we talk to locals about what it's like to live in New Delhi, one of the world’s most polluted cities.
Today marks World Environment Day, a UN Environment-led global event; this year's theme is “Beat plastic pollution.”
Plastic makes up 10 percent of all of the waste we generate. Every year the world uses up to five trillion plastic bags. Every year, at least 13 million tons of plastic ends up in oceans, the equivalent of a full garbage truck every minute. And 50 percent of the plastic we use is single-use or disposable.
Next time you want to use a plastic bag, think twice about it.
