Chinese basketball player Zhou Qi will play for the Houston Rockets in the coming 2018 NBA Summer League in July to prepare for the new season, according to Shen Yang, reporter for Tencent Sports.
Zhou played five games in the 2017 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and scored 6.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and two blocks per game with 30.3 percent for field goal and 14.3 percent for three-pointers.

In the 2017-18 regular season, Zhou played 18 games for the Rockets and scored 1.2 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.8 blocks during the 6.9 minutes he got per game. He has not made it into the active list in the playoffs and spent most of the time playing for NBA G League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers that had a single-partnership affiliation agreement with the Rockets.
With a height of 2.18 meters and wingspan of 2.29 meters, Zhou has the chance to adapt to the small-ball era of today's league. He is also fast enough to reach a wide ware in defense, including both the paint area and outside the three-pointer line.

However, Zhou still has a lot to learn in offense as he has not met the NBA standard for jump shots. Zhou is not strong enough to fight with the league's muscle monsters in the paint area. Stable shooting and better physical strength are two missions for him in the near future.
Another Chinese player, Ding Yanyuhang who is also in the US may play in the 2018 NBA Summer League as well. Fans could expect a Derby game between Chinese players this summer.
