Nearly 2,000 armed police and firefighters have been mobilized to battle forest fires in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, according to fire authorities.
A fire broke out in a national nature reserve in the regions of the Greater Hinggan Mountains at around 7 p.m. on Friday, said the national forest fire prevention headquarters.
Another fire was reported at around 10 a.m. on Saturday in a primeval forest, the authorities added.
According to an initial investigation, the fires were caused by lightning strikes in recent days.
No casualties or damage of major facilities have been reported so far.
Ongoing high temperatures and drought conditions increase forest fire risk in the Greater Hinggan Mountains, according to local fire authorities.
Eight helicopters have also been sent to the sites to put out fires.
