As the top tennis tournament Wimbledon gets into gear, top players Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic advance to the next round.
Spanish Nadal, who is seeded second behind Swiss Roger Federer, beat Dudi Sela of Israel in the opening round.
The Spaniard took the first two sets with 6-3, and then wrapped up the third a bit quicker as the booming backhand gave him the frame 6-2 and a spot in the second round.
Meanwhile, former champion and three-time winner Novak Djokovic beat Tennys Sandgren in straight sets. The victory for the 12th-seeded Serbian brought him level with American John McEnroe for fifth place in the number of matches won at Wimbledon.
The shock of the day belonged to unseeded Australian Matthew Ebden, as the world’s number 51 upset the tenth seed from Belgium, David Goffin, in straight sets of 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
