A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit waters near Hualien County, southeast China's Taiwan Wednesday at a depth of 20 km, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The quake took place at 13:21 BJT.

Tremors could be felt in Taipei, according to media reports.

There were no immediate reports on casualties or damages.
