The New Zealand armed police were at Auckland's Britomart Train Station where a controlled explosion has taken place after the discovery of two abandoned backpacks, local media reported.
The police forces have cordoned off the station and forbidden the entry of drivers into the affected area.
The station operation remains normal currently, confirmed a police spokesperson.
There is currently no information on damage or casualties.
The news came in the wake of the terrorist attack in Christchurch at two mosques which has left 40 dead and over 20 seriously injured.
