Hotels in Shanghai will stop providing six items, including toothbrushes, combs, bath sponges, shavers, nail files, and cloths for shoe cleaning from July 1, as the city aims at more sustainable environmental development.
Should hotels proactively provide any of the six items to guests, hotels could face a fine ranging from 500 to 5,000 yuan.
However, several hotels have said that these items will be offered for free when guests ask for them.
Toothpaste, shampoo and others are not on the list, due to the quantity limitation at airport security checks and the inconvenience of carrying them around.
