Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday said Asian people are expecting an Asia of peace, common prosperity, openness and integration.
Xi made the remarks during a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations in Beijing on Wednesday.
President Xi noted maintaining peace is a responsibility that every country should undertake.
Without peace, constant conflicts and fierce wars would break out, he said, adding in this case, economic growth, improvement of people's livelihood, social stability and people-to-people exchanges will all become empty talk.
The Chinese president also pointed out economic development is a strong support for the survival of civilization and prosperity is an important cornerstone of national progress.
Asian people hope that all countries will work together to promote an open, inclusive, balanced and win-win economic globalization, to eradicate poverty and backwardness, to create a carefree life for children and to bring happiness and joy into every family, Xi added.
He also said if countries are completely isolated from each other all their lives, human civilization will lose its vitality.
Xi urged all parties to build a community with a shared future for Asia and mankind.
The conference was initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference in 2015.
It is aimed at providing a platform upon which to enhance interactions among the youth, local communities, and the media and to form a network of cooperation among think tanks, so as to add to the rich cultural lives of Asia and contribute to greater vibrant regional cooperation and development.
