Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday made a phone call to Arif Alvi, congratulating him on winning the Islamic Republic of Pakistan's presidential election.
Xi said he attaches great importance to Sino-Pakistan relations and called for pushing the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation to a higher level and building a closer community of shared destiny between the two countries.
"Under the current circumstances, China-Pakistan relations are of greater strategic significance and the two countries should support each other more firmly and conduct more in-depth cooperation," Xi told Alvi.
In the congratulatory phone call, Xi also lauded the progress made in recent years in fields including political trust and the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which not only benefits both countries and peoples but also contributes to regional peace and stability.
