On my sixth and last day of this grand road trip, I visited another of the three greatest towers in southern China: Yueyang Tower in China's Hunan Province. It lived up to its nickname of The Maiden in the Mist as it was cloaked in haze. Leaning on the wooden rail of the tower and looking out at Dongting Lake through the drizzling rain, I understood why so many literary marvels were composed here.
