Russia, as one of the SCO members, is shifting its focus with more economic endeavors, including the founding of luxury brand Aurus, an important player in the domestic car sector.
Targeting the global market, the company offers Russian style products, said Gerhard Hilgert, CEO of Aurus.
The generation of young people, born after the Soviet Union, want to shape the country, the business and their own future, he said, noting this as a huge opportunity for investors and companies.
As for competition with other premium car brands, Hilgert has confidence that Aurus will be successful and he said there is a place in the market for a new player.

“There is a simple rule in business: Competition keeps people fresh. So, we're coming in and don't want to take the total market. We just want to offer something new and then we'll see how people like luxury product with the Russian style coming from Russia. I think there is a segment in which are enough places for us on the market,” Hilgert said.
He is also convinced that Aurus can find opportunities within the Chinese market, where potential buyers of premium cars are already familiar with foreign brands.
