Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Saturday that China, Russia and Mongolia should enhance coordination and collaboration within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and called for the elevation of Mongolia's ties with the SCO, according to Xinhua news agency.
China welcomes Mongolia – an observer state of the SCO – to play a bigger role in the organization, Xi added.
Xi made the remarks during the fourth trilateral meeting with his Russian and Mongolian counterparts in Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province, where the 18th SCO Summit is held this weekend. Both China and Russia are member states of the regional bloc.
The trilateral meeting is chaired by Xi and attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Mongolian President Khaltmaa Battulga – both are in Qingdao for the SCO summit.
Xi, Putin and Battulga reviewed the achievements of trilateral cooperation and discussed priority tasks and directions for the next phase, pledging to expand win-win cooperation.
