Now let's take a quick look at the chemical being used with those eggs. Fipronil is a pesticide which is effective on a large number of pests. It is considered slightly poisonous by the World Health Organization, and is forbidden on animals destined for the food chain processing. It is believed to be damaging to the human liver, thyroid and kidney. Exposure and infection of the chemical can happen through contact of the skin, eyes and breathing it in or eating contaminated foods. Some of its adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, headaches, stomach pain and even seizures.
