US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit China next Monday, state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Wednesday, citing Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying.
The two sides will exchange opinions on China-US ties and issues of common concern, Hua said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Pompeo in Beijing on June 14 earlier this year.
During the meeting, President Xi noted that the two countries should always view each other's strategic intentions in a correct way, and respect and take care of each other's core interests and major concerns.
Pompeo conveyed US President Donald Trump's appreciation for Xi's important advice and help over the Korean Peninsula issue.
Pompeo will travel to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) at the weekend for denuclearization talks with the country's leader Kim Jong Un, the State Department said on Tuesday, calling this "forward progress", despite negative signals from Pyongyang.
Pompeo will also travel to Japan and South Korea.
